Best Programs for Video Editing

If your a videography fan like me, you’ll be excited about these different programs that are available for video editing. I have always enjoyed taking videos on my iPhone, and looking at the best co-parenting apps. In addition, I have purchased a DSLR camera, and like using software programs to edit the videos taken on my camera. At the end of the day, there is no wrong choice in terms of programs. There are so many different aspects of each program, if you read my guide you”ll find the one that works best for you.

MacBook with notepad and phone

Many types of apps exist for editing photos, there are also a variety of apps for editing videos. Whether someone just takes videos when traveling or they make money doing videography for birthday parties or weddings, as a creator it’s important to know the different choices that are out there. A true videographer doesn’t just take photos, they enjoy the whole process. Some even spy on text messages with their phone.

Premiere

Premiere is an editing program by Adobe, and it is available under their Creative Cloud Suite. This program is used by both professionals and casual users. It is very technical and can be difficult to learn. Although, it does give the user a great deal of freedom with how they want to change or alter their video. If you’re are wanting to get involved with professional videography, you would do yourself a favor in learning Premiere as soon as possible.

There are some negatives that come along with using Premiere. Similarly to Photoshop, it gives the editor an immense amount of freedom, but they have to figure out how to use it. Many processes in Premiere take multiple clicks and the usage of different buttons. This program is great, but not exactly user-friendly.

Final Cut Pro

This is a very common editing program and is good for beginners. Even though this program does not work on a PC, it’s great for a Mac. This is especially great for Mac users who are familiar with iOS programs like iMovie and iTunes. Final Cut Pro helps users that are wanting to learn how to edit video but are not prepared for the technicalities of Premiere. This program organizes the video into “storylines,” which turns out to be a bit simpler than the editing process used by Premiere.

Social Media apps on an iPhone

Spark

Spark is the app that I learned to edit videos on, it’s another great program for beginners. Its specifically meant for the iPhone, and it makes the editing process so simple and easy. This is perfect for people wanting to record and edit videos all from their phone. In addition, my vloggers use this for video recording. Whether you are traveling or just want to record and edit footage from a friend’s party, this is a great way to do it if you’re shooting from an iPhone. Even with all these amazing features, the best part is, its free.

iMovie

For those that don’t want all of the complications of Premiere and Final Cut Pro but need more than what Spark offers, iMovie is another good choice. It’s the most Apple-friendly program out there. Most videographers have used it at one point or another. It’s not the one you stick with your entire videography career, but it’s a great place to start. Similarly to the the editing program Spark, it’s free to use.

Any of these video editing apps make a great choice for those that are wanting to get into videography. Whether you are wanting to make a career out of it or just enjoy the process, any would work.
